"Sinfully" by Shangri-la Makati I've passed the shop by for around 2 years now, their window displays are always a pleasant sight. From huge gingerbread houses to really intricate circus themed 4 layered cakes. Once you go inside, it’s straight to the point confections. They leave you alone to gawk at their display cases and savor the sweet smell of cacao inside. At times, you can watch some chefs in action through the front window. |
In a nutshell:
Their macaroons are definitely one of the most vibrant that I have seen, they have hues of green, a shy looking pink and a passionate red. I had always thought most macaroons needed to follow a pastel theme, as the soft colours emphasize the softness you’d expect from these morsels.

Appearance/Taste: It really just melts in your mouth, the shell just covers the filling and stops being there once you’ve bitten it. The taste is momentary and you can eat and eat, and eat this without ruining the other flavours. It’s not too sweet as I’ve very sensitive teeth so I’d know if something has gone overboard with the sugar. The sizes aren't as consistent, there were big portions and smaller ones. And it’s a little clumsy looking compared to Bizu and its almost perfect looking macaroons. A personal favorite would be the "Raspberry" flavor, they had really local flavors like "Ube" and "Pandan". I stuck to the one's that I was most familiar with. And they were heaven in my mouth. But I was a little disappointed because other than "Chocolate", Pistachio" and "Strawberry", the others didn't taste much like the flavors they were supposed to have. Nonetheless this was really easy to eat in one go. |
Recommend? Yes, value for money it’s around 60 pesos per piece (around a dollar and a half) and you get what you paid for. As a gift? Yes please! I wouldn't recommend refrigerating it but the box would be something I myself would want to receive. About the refrigeration bit, the cold doesn't do too good with these lovelies. It turns them a little chewy than it should be. With that! Happy eatings~ |
