Tagaytay, Philippines - known for it's cold climates among many things (like it's parks, and bulalo for instance) is probably one of the best places to enjoy a hot sip of chocolate.
They serve hot choco that's from rich "Tablea", that the internet translates loosely as "cacao chocolate". It's right in somewhat, as it's twice as chocolate as normal powdered drinks you might be used to. But saying that would be redundant, as Cacao is basically chocolate. Tablea comes in different forms: either a bar, a circular disk or a sphere of pure chocolate goodness. And in any case the drink was way worth the money. The service is a hit or miss at times (Depends whether the town has a celebration and at what time you arrive) Back to the Hot chocolate- it was rich, and was just the right amount of sweetness. It had depth to it which was really soothing. |
They sell a pack of Tablea as well as the mugs if you're interested at 120-300 (The cup has varying sizes) but basically, most of the things you drink are for sale in packs in their souvenir store, on the upper floor.
Recommend? For dinner? NO WAY. Why? Their service as I mentioned is not for the short tempered. The place is huge, and the manpower is plenty but the chairs are so wide apart that it makes it hard to call for a waiter. I'd recommend this for those sudden trips out of town, and you just want to sit down, relax and talk because you're feeling calm and you need a change of pace. Honestly, not a fan of the other drink we had. (The Hot Mocha for example wasn't anything special, and I wouldn't order it again over the Hot Choco) |
I'll review the tablea itself, as I make myself a home made cup.
Happy eaing folks! Don't be too cold!
