Impressions: A curious name and an interesting looking interior, in sum it had that old off in the middle of nowhere diner feel. It also served alcohol and had a veranda with a view outside to complete the whole vice, because that’s obviously where you can smoke as well. What is "Katsu" It's not as complicated as you imagine, “Katsu” comes from the word “Cutlets” and is basically a literal translation, and thus “Katsuretsu” is just "Cutlets". |
Katsu Battle: Chicken vs. Pork
Chicken Katsu Price: 169 php Comments: Serving size of the chicken is smaller, but the rice was fluffy and can be passed of as newly cooked. The classic side salad was decent and basically the same as the Pork Katsu set, except for of course, the hero of the dish which was the Chicken katsu. The chicken katsu loses out after several bites. Though this is really more flavorful than the pork one, the crunch was the only thing you could fill as the chicken was tender (Not a bad thing of course) | Pork Katsu Price: 145 php Comments: Serving is pretty similar to the chicken counterpart, but in terms of size this was definitely bigger. same in all accounts except the texture and taste. Although not as tasty as dark meat, the pork had the texture one wants in katsu, the slight toughness that's just there enough to hold your interest and then it melts as you chew... positively perfect. |
Pork Katsu wins:
In terms of overall taste, and serving plus value for money there was no doubt after the meal that Pork has won over chicken.

Casual meal that won't take a huge wet bite of your wallet? Yep! It's an interesting experience, plus the staff are very accommodating. The place is small though just enough so waiters can hear you if you need water and whatnot.
